Featured here is the title page of Thomas R. Dew's "Essay on the Interest of Money, and the Policy of Laws Against Usury," a twenty-four-page article published in July 1834 by the Farmer's Register, a popular agricultural journal. Dew was then a professor of history, metaphysics, and political law at the College of William and Mary; in 1836 he became president of the college.
