Grand National Whig Banner. "Onward."
An 1844 election banner features the Whig presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Henry Clay (left) and Theodore M. Frelinghuysen (right), in oval portraits framed in laurel. An eagle holding an American flag in its beak hovers above the two candidates. This colored lithograph was one of at least three Whig election banners produced that year by Nathaniel Currier of New York.
