Colgate W. Darden
Colgate W. Darden, the Democratic governor of Virginia from 1942 to 1946, is the subject of this oil portrait by Victor G. White. This painting is part of the Commonwealth of Virginia's art collection.
Darden also served as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1933 to 1937 and from 1939 to 1941, as the chancellor of the College of William and Mary from 1946 to 1947, and as the president of the University of Virginia from 1947 to 1959. The university's graduate school of business administration is named after Darden.
