The American Gardener's Calendar
This is the title page of Bernard McMahon's The American Gardener's Calendar (1806), a monthly guide to gardening that probably inspired the oval flower beds and the serpentine flower walks at Thomas Jefferson's Monticello. Identified on the title page as a "nursery, seedsman, and florist" from Philadelphia, McMahon also provided seeds and plants for the gardens at Monticello.
