Edgewood in Nelson County
An unidentified man in a horse-drawn wagon poses in front of Edgewood, an eighteenth-century plantation located in Nelson County. Joseph C. Cabell, a politician and president of the James River and Kanawha Company from 1835 to 1846, lived here from 1808 until his death in 1856. Robert A. Lancaster Jr. took this photograph in 1888. A fire in 1955 destroyed the main house.
