Equal Suffrage League of Richmond
Members of the Equal Suffrage League of Richmond, a branch of the Equal Suffrage League of Virginia, pose around a car in Capitol Square in May 1915. With a statue of George Washington in the background, the women hold aloft banners, carry pennants, and wear sashes declaring their support for woman suffrage. Most of the women in the photograph have been identified. In the front row, left to right, are Adèle Clark, Mrs. Archer Jones, Mrs. James Pollard, Mrs. Carter Wormeley, Mrs. Corydon Hobson, an unidentified woman, Mrs. Stewart Reynolds, Martha Roberts, and an unidentified woman. Seated in the front seat of the car, left to right, are Margaret Montague and an unidentified woman. In the middle seat, left to right, are Nora Houston, Mrs. John Armstead, and Mrs. Taylor Burke. The identities of the women in the back seat are unknown. Clark gave this photograph to the Virginia Historical Society.
