Postcard of Moore Street Baptist Church
This postcard was produced in 1958 to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Moore Street Baptist Church at its W. Leigh Street, Richmond, location. The church was organized in 1875 and moved to this location in 1908. It was also celebrating the thirty-third anniversary of the tenure of Dr. Gordon Blaine Hancock as pastor. Hancock, also a professor at Virginia Union University, was a noted writer and African-American activist in the days before the apex of the Civil Rights movement.
