Marriage of White Person with Colored Person, How Punished (1924)

In this excerpt from The Code of Virginia, published in 1924, the punishment for marrying illegally in Virginia is established.

§ 4546. Marriage of white person with colored person; how punished.—If any white person intermarry with a colored person, or any colored person intermarry with a white person, he shall be confined in the penitentiary not less than two nor more than five years. (Code 1887, § 3788.)
