Robert Dinwiddie
Robert Dinwiddie, lieutenant governor of Virginia from 1751 to 1758, wears a white wig in this printed image, which was based on an earlier eighteenth-century portrait. A stylized version of his coat of arms and his signature appear beneath his figure. Atop the coat of arms is an eagle about to soar; beneath it are images of an Indian, with bow bent, targeting a stag, and a ship under sail making its way to America.
