Isobel Lamont Stewart Bryan was the first president of the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (APVA), the nation's first statewide historic preservation operation. Bryan was married to Joseph Bryan, president of the Virginia Historical Society and publisher of the Daily Times, a Richmond-based newspaper that would later become part of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
